Keystone's Picture

I get choked up when I think of this young lady. If I were to take this program and give it a picture it would look like her. Tranisha is the longest, most active Keystone member. She is very serious about our expectations of the members. She prides herself for not missing a meeting in years. She is very active at the Boys and Girls Club. Whatever we tell the members to do, she does. When she first joined the Boys and Girls Club she was shy and afraid to speak out publicly. Now, not only will she speak publicly, but she represents the youth on the Boys and Girls Club board.

Tranesha plans to major in radiology, and after graduation from college, she plans to give back to the Boys and Girls Club. She is another story that if you knew it you would be as choked up as I am. This young lady is truely a survivor and an example of not complaining about what you do not have. Tranesha, I am so proud of you. You are an inspiration to me.

From a long way

This is a young man who is very special to me. This young man and his family have been around myself and my family for years. David Adams has come a long way. If you knew this man's story you would want to write a book on him. I am very proud of David who has traveled from being in trouble to being a high achiever. He is very active at his school, running track, playing football, and baseball. He is active in his church and in the Keystone Leadership Program. David keep it up.

Oh! I forgot

I forgot to mention that Cameron was allowed to play basketball with the Bowie State Boys Basketball team against the Russian team.

Help from the family

My family blessed us by opening up their home and cooking dinner for us. My cousins Demetrius and Regina and their husbands really took care of us. Thank you cousins. I love you.

Time to go

We are getting ready to leave...... where's Mr. David.

The African-American Wax Museum

The experience of this place was filled with mixed emotions. There were pictures that were very graphic. Some of our students had to step out, because it was too much for them. The students, however, need to see how people have suffered, and how they suffered so that we could have the freedoms that we take for granted. This was eye opening for myself and the students.

We are now at the African-American Wax Museum.

Yeah I work hard also

I'm orry Mrs. Davis I had to do it

Working hard on the bus

We make the students work hard on the bus.

Back on the bus

We are back on the bus to head out to the African-American Wax Museum.

The Dean

Bowie's Ambassador

This young lady is our student ambassador. The Dean of Admissions gave us our tour this time. A basketball team from Russia was there to scrimmage with the Bowie their basketball team so the Dean had to give us the tour.

Bowie State

Good morning. We had a long night last night. We are now beginng our tour at Bowie State University.

Out for Dinner

We usually try to take our students out to a big dinner at night. One of the things about our college tours are we eat well. We are pictured here at UNO's restaurant.

The First Sermon

This young lady is not only a member of our group, but my church sister. Alexis is a people person, loving everyone she comes in contact with. One thing that sticks out is her spiritality. She is very active in our church serving in many ministries. This young lady has done mission work in China and will minister to anyone she meets. I always tell her I can't wait to see her first sermon. She is doing well in school scoring a 3.3 on her last report card. She is a junior in private school and always has a smile on her face. The young man with her is a student at Hampton University and a former member of our church. We ran into him while touring Hampton's campus.

One-on-One

Ladies and Gentlemen introducing Shanel. She is a junior at Vallejo High School. She is a starting point guard for the girls varsity basketball team and an honor student. Shanel thinks she can beat me in basketball. You know I should not discourage the young lady, so I just let her think she could. That's the kind of person I am. Her quick wit has made this trip very enjoyable.

Take that to the bank

Here is Rico. This young man is a senior on a mission to hit the world. He plans to go to city college in San Francisco and transfer to the Academy of Art. He wants to major in Fashion Marketing. Rico is involved in many organizations and is a part of his community. One thing that sticks out about Rico is that he is a dependable person. If he tells you something you can take it to the bank. This young man has great promise. I am very excited to see this man about four years from now.

CSI

This young lady is Shairee. This is her second tour. Shairee has been a member of the club for as long as I can remember. She wants to follow in her sister's footsteps and major in criminal forensics. This is a funny young lady and a pleasure to work with. I have been working with her since she was a sixth grader in middle school. She has became close with all of us at the Boys and Girls Club.

Virginia State

We are with our student ambassador. This young man has started his business on campus. He is a very successful young man. He spoke with the members, telling them that he was the type of high school student that got into trouble, but was able to turn his life around.

Visited Virginia State and Virginia Union

Today we visited Viginia State and Virginia Union.

The smile that ministers

Let me pause to talk about some more of our students. This beautiful young lady is Helen. She is a freshman at Benicia High School. If you meet this young lady you will be taken in by her warm spirit. She has a smile that can minister. Her goals are to go to law school and eventually become a judge. She has over a 3.0 GPA. We enjoy Helen and love to have her as a part of the group.

A brief stop

Before we boarded the bus, Mrs. Davis had to make a brief stop to take a picture. Usually on the HBCU's there are plots dedicated to the fraternities and sororities on campus. Mrs. Davis is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Inc., so she stopped to take a picure on the Delta's plot.

Some are in the game some are on the side lines

Well after I finished we left.

Before we leave

Just as we were leaving, our self professing basketball players said they wanted to see the gym. We walked in and saw some members of the Norfolk Basketball Team. They said they needed another player for their pick up game. They looked at the four of us and picked the one they felt would help their team.

Now we tour

We are now touring the college and,..... wait a minute. Where's Mr. David?
